In the Bay of Montevideo, there is a ship graveyard comprising more than 50 vessels. Their removal is necessary as part of the project for the expansion and modernization of the Port of Montevideo.

Main functions and responsibilities of Movilex

Movilex has been awarded the international tender to carry out the refloating, transfer, and dismantling of all the vessels that make up this naval graveyard.

This operation involves the management of over 50,000 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, in addition to other waste associated with naval activity, ensuring their correct classification, treatment, and recovery.

The recovered metals are being commercialized in the international market, destined for various countries such as Asia, Morocco, Mexico, Egypt, and Turkey, among others.
